Family Issues on Agenda for Friday Meeting

Leaders of local nonprofits will talk to area legislators about the impact of budget cuts on Bucks County families.

The leaders of area nonprofits that focus on bettering the lives of Bucks Couny women and their families have a lot to say about how social service programs are funded.

Friday, they'll get a chance to share their perspectives with the elected officials who make those budget decisions.

The Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition will hold a “Conversation with Our Legislators” from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. The meeting will be at the , Rooms A & B, 705 N. Shady Retreat Road, in Doylestown. The forum itself will start "promptly" at 8:30 a.m., organizers said.

Federal, state, and county level officials will learn how federal and state budget cuts have affected area women and families. Both coalition members and the legislators will share their perspectives on the impact of both past and potential budget decisions.

A question and answer session will follow.

Founded in 2008, the advocacy coalition is a project of the Bucks County Women's Fund. Its goal is to bring social service agencies, legislators and businesses together to remove barriers to economic self-sufficiency.
