Senators Mensch and McIlhinney, Representatives Quinn and Clymer to Hold Act 13 Educational Forum on Shale Law

April 12 at Palisades High School

Harrisburg – Sen. Bob Mensch (R-24) and Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R-10), along with Rep. Marguerite Quinn (R-143) and Rep. Paul Clymer (R-145), will hold an educational forum April 12 on Act 13 of 2012, the state's new shale law.

The public forum will be held Thursday, April 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the cafeteria of Palisades High School, 35 Church Hill Road in Kintnersville.

The forum will include state Rep. Kathy Watson (R-144) and feature officials from the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Public Utility Commission, as well as PennEnvironment, the Renew Growing Greener Coalition, and the Penn State Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research.

The panel will discuss Act 13 and take questions from the public. The law imposes an impact fee on gas drillers, strengthens environmental safeguards and regulates the Marcellus Shale industry in Pennsylvania.
