Polling places around Doylestown were hopping Tuesday as voters turned out in droves for what many are billing as an historic Election Day.

A few hiccups have been seen and reported in some area polling places.

One of the two electronic voting machines at the Pine Run Community Center in Doylestown Township stopped working about mid-morning, according to the judge of elections there.

The county sent someone out to fix it the first time, but it malfunctioned again, according to poll workers there. The county came back to fix it a second time.

Voters there reported waiting about 45 minutes during the time the third machine was down.

Turnout seemed very high at polling places across Central Bucks, according to anecdotal reports from voters.

Kevin Kelley, of Doylestown Borough, said he was voter No. 458 at about 11:35 a.m. at Center Square Towers. Poll workers said about 1,600 voters are registered to that polling place.

At Pebble Hill church in Doylestown Township, Karen Oles reported good turnout but smooth operations.

"Not too long of a wait...only 20 minutes," she said. "I got there around 9:30 am and I was voter #321."

At Buckingham Township Upper #1, Larry King reported he had the place to himself shortly after 1 p.m. "Had the whole place to myself; not another voter in sight."
