Doylestown Public Works Department Hits YouTube

Watch what happens when workers remove lead water pipes that originally served the old Bucks County Courthouse.

Phil Ehlinger has always had a flair for the dramatic, and now he's stepping up his game - and taking it public.

Ehlinger, director of Doylestown Borough's planning and public works department, likes to create slideshows to show the borough's elected council members what the town's public works employees do.

On Monday night, he turned that slideshow into a YouTube video and uploaded it for the public to watch, too.

This month's video highlights the employees' work restoring an old, rusted truck, so the borough didn't have to buy a new one; a training session on tackling a certain kind of valve; and the removal of a lead pipe that served the old Bucks County Courthouse. The removal had to be done while the water was still flowing - "under pressure" - so other customers didn't lose water service.
