Doylestown Hit with Late Morning Power Outage

A tripped circuit caused 3,000 property owners to go powerless for approximately 30 minutes Friday morning.

More than 3,000 Doylestown property owners received fresh evidence of the need to upgrade the borough's electricity grid when they lost power late Friday morning.

A PECO spokeswoman told , a tripped circuit caused the outage at 11:30 a.m., and crews had repaired the problem by 11:55 a.m.

The latest incident comes just days before PECO representatives are scheduled to address the Doylestown Borough council committee and outline the next step to an ambitious plan to repair and stabilize the electric cables and equipment that power the borough and its business district.

"They're coming to us Monday to lay out details of a very significant project of laying cable on Main Street," borough manager John Davis told on Thursday. "The four to six week project will result in a very significant upgrade that we’re very pleased to see is happening."

Monday's meeting of the public works committee begins at 6 p.m. at borough hall. It is open to the public and interested residents and business owners are encouraged to attend.
