Demonstrators Crash Romney Appearance [VIDEO]

Candidate relocates campaign stop after 150-250 protesters arrive at original venue; Rendell gives press conference at adjacent lot.

Update 6:30 p.m. ABC News reports that Romney greeted about 50 people at the other Wawa, including a Little League baseball team.

"We knew yesterday what they were going to pull," an unnamed Romney campaign aide told ABC.

Update 1:55 p.m.: Citing security concerns, Romney instead made a brief appearance before some members of the media at a different Wawa location on Route 309.

Update 1:15 p.m.: Media members at the scene have been told that Romney is no longer appearing at this Wawa location and will appear shortly at another location in the area.

Initial story follows.

QUAKERTOWN, PA -- Democratic protesters on Saturday threatened to disrupt a scheduled campaign appearance by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney at a Wawa location outside Quakertown.

Between 150 and 250 anti-Romney protesters had gathered at the Wawa and in the immediate area, appearing to substantially outnumber Romney supporters shortly after noon. More Romney supporters were arriving as the candidate's appearance drew closer.

Romney was scheduled to arrive at the Wawa at 12:40 p.m.

Eyewitnesses said at least some of the anti-Romney demonstrators, led by former Gov. Ed Rendell, had arrived on a bus.

A large cluster of demonstrators, bearing signs and placards and shouting "hey, ho, Mitt Romney's got to go" thronged the Wawa parking area.

Rendell himself and a second contingent of several dozen people were visible in a gravel lot some distance from the Wawa. Rendell addressed that group from a lectern for several minutes. They then walked down the road to join the group near the Wawa.

Fragments of each group confronted each other.

"We are the 99 percent," shouted the anti-Romney protesters.

"USA, USA, we're the 100 percent," replied Romney's supporters.

Diana, I love this country, it's constitution, freedoms and liberties. I live here because I AM NOT A SOCIALIST! Name calling again! I do know about real life, whether you agree with my way of thinking or not. Life has changed, too bad you don't like change or can't keep up. I've lived in many states, worked in many states, and have traveled extensively around this world. I have seen more than you ever will. I am not the problem. NOR am I a taker. I have given to my fellow man more than you ever will, I save lives and I care for the rich and the poor equally, I volunteer and donate to those in need because it's the right thing to do. What have you done??? This is NOT a world of only looking out for yourself, you will die lonely, sad, and unfulfilled. Life is about serving your fellow man, helping those in need, and having a conscience. TODAY your boy, CJ Roberts agreed with that in a BIG way. PLEASE, I am begging you, tell me what we democrats wish to change that so many people fought and died for. And thank you for the compliment on my smart mouth. I am smart, and unlike you, I can verbalize my ideals and answers well. I am far from an idiot. Today, victory was won in the name of the right thing to do...no matter your politics. It's CONSTITUTIONAL, and here to stay.

@Kaemme You just proved your ignorance, CJ Roberts thinks obama care is UNCONSTITUTIONAL, but since Obama care is a tax that's the only reason why it have been upheld. Your boy The Commie - In - Chief has just imposed another HUGH TAX on We The People.. You can say Good-Bye to mostly all the small businesses with 50 people, So mister 1%er himself has just destroyed another one of our Freedoms, The freedom to chose.... It's time for you to wake up!!!!! You said a Victory was won in the name of the right thing to do? How's that? How could you possibly think this is the right thing to do? It's just another tax burden.. And Honestly Kaemme you don't sound all that smart, it's mostly the dems that are destroying our freedoms one by one on a daily basis. I'm not saying that the Repubs. aren't cuz they are as well, especially Bush and the stupid ass TSA. And I guess you didn't get the memo, but almost all the democrats are socialist's... So the way I see it, you're a Socialist as well... http://www.restoringamerica.org/socialists_in_congress_II.htm @Diana just for the record we are NOT a Democracy, we are a REPUBLIC!!! But I def. agree with you that all the Socialist need to get out of our Country and sooner rather than later...

Here we are. How much longer will we last! 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinborough, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy.........."The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years."

Kaemme, ?????? The democrats believe in WEALTH DISTRIBUTION. They want to tell you HOW to live your life, what utilities you NEED, what to EAT, etc...on and on and on..... CONTROL THE POPULATION FOR YOUR OWN POWER. Maybe you should have stayed in one of those countries you claim to have lived..this is not freedom and SOCIALISM IS NOT FREEDOM IT IS CONTROL. @stGabes..very intelligent..thanks for reminding me, we are a Republic. I will add did you notice how Kaemme always seem to think he is so much more intelligent than others?
