Corbett to Have Surgery Thursday
Lt. Gov. James Cawley of Bucks County will be acting governor during the time that Corbett is under general anesthesia.
Gov. Tom Corbett will briefly hand over control of the state on Thursday morning as he undergoes hernia surgery, the Governor’s Office said.
Lt. Gov. James Cawley of Bucks County will be acting governor during the time that Corbett is under general anesthesia, as is outlined by the Pennsylvania Constitution, the Governor’s Office said.
The outpatient procedure will be performed by Dr. John J. Reeves at Allegheny General Surgical Center in Pittsburgh, and is expected to take about an hour and a half.

The Governor’s Office said that Corbett will resume his duties immediately following surgery. He will recuperate at his home in Shaler Township, Allegheny County, over the weekend and will return to Harrisburg on Monday.
Corbett, 64, underwent a recent physical, his office said, and other than his abdominal hernia, was found to be in excellent health.
