Buckingham Residents Can Recycle Their Trees

Buckingham residents, too, will be able to give new life to their Christmas trees this year.

The township will once again offer tree recycling.

Residents can drop off their Christmas trees at the Buckingham Township Water Department maintenance building at 4124 Mechanicsville Road; it's on the corner of Mechanicsville and Church School roads.

Trees may be dropped off at any time.

In past years, township workers have taken the trees to the roads maintenance department building and chip them. Wood chips from the trees are made available to residents for home use in the spring, officials said.

We told you recently about the tree recycling details in Doylestown Borough and Doylestown Township, too.

The borough accepts trees dropped off at the maintenance yard at the north end of Harvey Avenue. The township accepts trees dropped off behind the township building on Wells Road.

And in a new effort this year, Shady Brook Farm near Yardley is a drop-off point for Christmas trees to be taken to the Jersey Shore.

Island Beach State Park is instituting a pilot program to install discarded Christmas trees to help rebuild the dunes. The trees will be placed on their side, end to end, and secured in place in a manner similar to dune fencing.
