Borough Council to Consider Budget, Taxes

The 2012 budget will include no tax increase, if the preliminary budget is accepted tonight.

Doylestown Borough property owners will see no tax rate increase next year, if the borough's preliminary budget for 2012 is approved as expected tonight.

If the tax rate remains at 11.225 mills, the owner of a property assessed at the borough average of $26,000 will continue to pay $291.85 in borough taxes in 2012.

Borough Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. at Borough Hall for its monthly meeting. Among the items on the agenda is approval of the preliminary budgets for the borough's general fund and its water fund, along with a move to advertise the ordinance setting the 2012 tax rate.

Final adoption of the budget is scheduled for Dec. 19.
