Wild Chase Ends in Jail

A New Jersey man faces numerous charges for the early Saturday-morning chase.

A New Jersey man still was in the Bucks County Prison Sunday after an overnight chase that started in New Jersey and ended in Doylestown.

Dujuan Gratz, 23, faces 13 charges, most of them felonies, including aggravated assault, burglary, and criminal trespass, as well as fleeing from an officer.

Bail was set at $350,000. Gratz was unable to pay, so was taken to the prison in Doylestown Township after a Saturday night arraignment in district court, according to court papers.

A preliminary hearing has been set in front of District Judge Mark D. Douple for Friday, April 8 at 9 a.m.

Gratz, of Piscataway, NJ, is accused of stealing a vehicle in New Jersey and was spotted early Saturday morning allegedly driving it near Doylestown.

Police chased him, and one officer was injured during the chase, but Gratz escaped on foot. Gratz was located later that morning; police said he broke into a Doylestown home where the homeowners later found him.

According to emergency reports, a New Jersey state police helicopter was requested to help with the search shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday. Several Doylestown area residents reported seeing a helicopter flying overhead Saturday.

According to court papers, Gratz did not request a public defender Saturday; no further information was available regarding his legal representation.

No further background was uncovered for "Dujuan" Gratz. But a "Dajuan" Gratz played football as a wide receiver for Piscataway Township High School, according to several high school sports websites. In 2006, he was listed as a senior.
