Wakefield Pleads Guilty to Avoid Death Penalty

Dale Wakefield admitted he killed 71-year-old George Mohr on July 3, according to the Intelligencer.

Dale Wakefield has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing a 71-year-old man in Doylestown Borough last year, The Intelligencer reported. In exchange for the guilty plea, the district attorney will likely not seek the death penalty, the publication reported.

Wakefield was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the July 3 incident. He was reportedly out celebrating his 21st birthday before attacking George Mohr, who passed away three days later at Temple University Hospital.

Mohr, 71, was found by a passing motorist, who called Borough Police to report that a struck pedestrian was lying in the street. When police arrived, they found the injured man and discovered the stab wounds.
