Veteran Police Officer Promoted to Sergeant

The Doylestown Township municipal building was packed Tuesday night with police officers, but there was no emergency.

They were there to witness the promotion of one of their own.

Bryan Rose, a police officer in the township for 24 years, was promoted from corporal to sergeant.

District Justice Mark Douple administered the oath, as Rose's wife, Cheryl, stood at his side and his son Ryan looked on, and his colleagues lined the walls.

Rose was hired in 1989, Police Chief Dean Logan said. He worked his way through the ranks and was promoted to corporal in 2003. He has served on the county's special response team, a group of officers from different departments specially trained to handle particular situations, since its inception, Logan said.

"I’m proud to have him as the next sergeant in Doylestown Township," Logan said.

The Doylestown Township police department has 19 officers, including Logan. The township plans to hire one additional officer this year, Logan said, and one next year, to bring the force to 21.
