'Tis the Season for Holiday Theft

Wreaths, packages and cash have been reported stolen in Doylestown Borough in the past week.

It wouldn't be the holiday season without reports of some kind of theft.

In Doylestown, borough police are investigating three cases of stolen goods.

First, two wreaths were stolen from the door of the Law Office of Eastburn and Gray. It happened some time during the overnight hours from Wednesday, Dec. 12 into Thursday, Dec. 13, police said Thursday.

The wreaths are valued at approximately $50, according to the police report.

In the second instance, $170 cash was removed from a purse that had been left in a shopping cart accidently at the Acme, police said.

The victim told police that she forgot her purse on Sunday, Dec. 16 at about 11:30 a.m., as she loaded groceries into her vehicle. She realized her mistake and returned to the store within 30 minutes, according to the report.

The good news was, someone had turned the purse into the store's office, police said.

The bad news was, about $170 had been removed from the purse first. All other contents were intact, police said.

And in the third instance, a resident of the tens block of West Ashland Street reported that someone stole a package from the porch of her home on Friday, Dec. 14. It happened some time between 11:20 a.m. and 12 p.m., she told police.

The package contained a small diamond ring valued at about $180.
