Thieves Again Are Targeting Unlocked Cars

Doylestown Township police said Tuesday a string of thefts were reported early Sunday morning.

Thieves are targeting unlocked cars in the Doylestown area again, stealing everything from cash to electronic devices, police said Tuesday.

Doylestown Township police reported a string of thefts from unlocked cars that happened late Saturday night into early Sunday morning. In at least one instance, a witness saw a man running from the area in the middle of the night, but the subject got away.

Three incidents were reported on Sunday, Oct. 16, police said.

One was on Fairfield Lane, where police said an unlocked vehicle was broken into around 2:45 a.m. A small amount of cash was taken, they said. A witness reported seeing a small sedan-type car driving back and forth repeatedly through the area. A man, described as white, about 5' 10" tall, 140 pounds, and wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt and black skate-type shoes, was seen running from the area, police said.

A second incident was reported that same night on Foxcroft Drive, where a small amount of cash was stolen, and a third on Saddle Drive, where a GPS unit and small amount of cash was reported stolen.

The department also investigated a theft reported on Monday, Oct. 10, from an unlocked vehicle on Country Club Drive. A small amount of cash was reported stolen there, as well.

Here are other incidents reported by Doylestown Township Police on Tuesday:

Commercial Burglary

On Oct. 12, unknown subject(s) entered a business office on Farm Lane by forced entry through a rear door. A small amount of cash was stolen.

Theft by unlawful taking, Receiving stolen property, and Loitering and prowling at night time

On Oct. 5, the department investigated a theft reported from an unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of North Main Street. A GPS unit and satellite radio receiver were reported stolen.

Investigation determined that Michelle Richardson, 43, of Marlton, NJ, had been responsible for the theft. She was arrested on the above charges with assistance of the Doylestown Borough Police.

She was arraigned before District Judge Mark Douple. Bail was set at $50,000 or 10%. She was lodged in the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

Driving Under Influence of Alcohol and related charge

On Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1:05 a.m., a vehicle was observed traveling on Route 611 swerving in the lane of travel. The driver, Ryan Bower, 21, of Warrington, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage about him.

He failed to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest. He provided blood samples for testing. The above charges were filed before District Judge Mark Douple on Monday, Oct. 17.

Driving Under Influence of Alcohol

On Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7:40 pm, the department investigated a one vehicle accident on Route 611 Bypass. Investigation determined that Joseph Warne, 73, of Langhorne, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage about him.

He failed to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest. He provided blood samples for testing. The above charge was filed before District Judge Mark Douple on Monday, Oct. 17.

Retail Theft

On Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 4 pm, the department was called to , 1745 Easton Road, for a report of retail theft.

Investigation determined that a 17-year-old female from New Britain had removed a $60 bracelet. She was taken into custody, processed and issued a summary citation for retail theft. She was then turned over to her parent.
