CB Teacher Faces Theft Charges

Police say she stole from fellow teachers and students at Groveland Elementary in Plumstead.

A Central Bucks elementary school teacher faces theft charges after police say she stole from colleagues and even student collections at her school.

Carolyn E. Trymbiski, 33, of Doylestown Township, has been charged with theft and two related charges, according to court documents.

The case was investigated by Doylestown Borough Police. Lt. Pat Penecale on Friday said the thefts began with Trymbiski borrowing money with permission, but escalated to theft.

"The incidents began with her borrowing money from fellow coworkers," Penecale said. "That graduated to her grabbing somebody’s ID and account information and making a withdrawal from the bank."

Penecale said Trymbiski used a colleague's driver's license to steal $5,000 from an account at a bank in Doylestown. He said she also kept money students had collected for books and took cash from colleagues' pocketbooks.

Charges were filed in July, but court documents say the thefts date back to December 3, 2010.

A formal arraignment has been scheduled for August 26.

Trymbiski is one of six 5th grade teachers at Groveland, which is north of Doylestown in Plumstead Township.

Penecale said the case took some time. The borough department was in contact with Plumstead police during the investigation, he said.

"It was kind of a slow-developing investigation, because there wasn’t a whole lot to work with initially," Penecale said. "It just did not fall into place readily."

Her attorney has said she will repay the money in full.
