Car Crash Knocks Out Power in Buckingham

A single car crashed into a pole on Cold Spring Creamery Road at Stoney Drive, knocking out power to between 1,501 and 3,500 customers.

 

Power went out in parts of Buckingham late Saturday night after a car crash on Cold Spring Creamery Road at Stoney Drive.

Police and fire officials were dispatched to the area around 11 p.m.

Cold Spring Creamery was shut down while officials responded to the incident. Fire police began turning drivers around at Skyron Drive, near the Doylestown Airport.

Neighbors reported hearing a car crash into a pole on Cold Spring Creamery at Stoney Drive. Witnesses later reported seeing a single car involved in the crash and electric wires downed.

The outage left between 1,501 and 3,500 without power Saturday night, according to PECO's outage map. Company representatives could not be reached for immediate comment late Saturday.

Repair crews already were on the scene working to restore power.

This isn't the first time a car crash in the same area has knocked out power.

In November 2011, at 4 a.m. on Cold Spring north of Charter Club Drive, rolling the vehicle before hitting a pole. The crash brought wires down, knocking out service to 102 customers, PECO said then.
