Police Searching for Identity Theft Subject

They hope someone can identify a woman they say used a stolen purse to try to steal $5,000 from a bank account.

Doylestown Township police on Friday appealed to the public to help identify and locate a woman they say attempted to steal money out of a bank account.

"We want to get the word out there, because someone knows this woman," Police Chief Stephen White said Friday.

The incident started on Thursday when township police were called to Turk Park II. A woman there told them that her purse had been stolen from a parked car.

Inside the black leather handbag was a black leather wallet with about $40 cash, the victim's Pennsylvania driver's license, her debit/credit card and her checkbook, police said.

The next day, the women pictured in the photos above tried to withdraw $5,000 in the victim's name from the victim's bank account in Bensalem, police said.

The suspect is described as being a white female, about 5'8" tall with a thin build. She has golden'brownish/blondish straight hair cut at the shoulders. She was described as "attractive but with 'lines' on her face."

Anyone who recognizes this suspect is asked to call Doylestown Township Police at 215-348-4200.

The woman faces charges of identity theft, forgery and fraud.
