Police Make DUI, Drug Violation Arrests, Investigate Jewelry Thefts

Doylestown Borough Police released additional crimes including assault and counterfeiting.

Driving Under the Influence

Around 5:17 p.m. on Dec. 24, John Friel, 67, of Swamp Rd., was arrested after police officers received a report of an intoxicated driver attempting to purchase alcohol at a local state store. 

During the traffic stop, police said Friel exhibited signs of intoxication. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was then transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood tests.

Burglary

Sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24 and 10:25 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, someone entered a residence on Chapman Avenue and removed several pieces of gold and silver jewelry from a jewelry box.

A suspect may have entered the home by released the dead bolt on a door after breaking a small windowpane on a side door.

A men’s Buckingham High School class of 1943 ring and a women’s Doylestown High School class of 1945 ring were among the stolen jewelry.

Drug Violations

Daniel Fradkin, 19, Oaktree Court of Warminster, and a 17-year-old male from Furlong were arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 27 around 4:30 p.m. after the vehicle in which they were driving was stopped for making a turn without signaling.

During the traffic stop, police noticed an odor of marijuana.

Fradkin was found to possess a small package of suspected synthetic marijuana, commonly known as Spice. The 17-year-old male was also found with another small package of Spice, in addition to a pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana.

Driving Under the Influence

On Friday, Dec. 30, Rachid Boukhrissi, 40, of Swetland Drive in Doylestown, was arrested shortly before 8 p.m. after he failed to stop his vehicle at a stop sign at the intersection of Clinton and Doyle Streets.

During the traffic stop, police noticed signed of intoxication and administered field sobriety tests to Boukhrissi. He failed the tests and was transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood tests.

Driving Under the Influence

A 17-year old female from Philadelphia was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 31 at approximately 2:21 a.m. after the vehicle she was driving struck a parked vehicle on the 100 block of S. Main Street and then fled the scene.

The female was located shortly after and exhibited signs of intoxication, according to police. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood tests.

The female is also charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, as she did not have the owner’s permission to drive the vehicle that she was operating.

Assault

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, Michael Luss, 38, of Spinnerstown Road in Quakertown, was arrested after he allegedly threw a man through a plate glass window of a business in the area of Oakland Avenue and Main Street.

The victim suffered lacerations to his face and was transported to Doylestown Hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Drug Violations

Christin Barilla, 20, of Stream Court in Chalfont, and a 17-year-old male from Doylestown, were arrested on Monday, Jan. 2 around midnight after an officer stopped to investigate a suspicious vehicle parked at the rear of a Swamp Road church.

Barilla was found to possess a small amount of marijuana and a bottle of alcohol, for which she was charged. The 17-year-old male passenger was found to possess a small amount of suspected marijuana. Another passenger, a 17-year-old male from Doylestown, was cited for underage consumption of alcohol after he exhibited signs of alcohol consumption.

Burglary

Sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, a resident of the 300 block of Penn Street reported that jewelry had been taken from the home.

The suspect gained entrance to the home through a forced basement window on the side of the residence.

Gold, silver, jade, coral, and pearl necklaces and earrings were among the stolen jewelry. Two necklaces have a parrot and a macaw painted on the pendant. The jewelry is valued at approximately $2,000.

Counterfeiting

Officers are investigating the report of a counterfeit $100 bill being passed at Staples on Wednesday, Jan. 4 around 7:30 p.m.

The suspect is described as a male in his early 20’s, approximately 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, white sneakers, and a puffy black jacket. The suspect was observed entering a black vehicle.
