Police Arrest Homeless Man on Warrant

Police said he had been living in a tent along the Neshaminy Creek for about a month.

Doylestown Township police this week arrested a homeless man they say had been living in a tent along the Neshaminy Creek in the area of the 1700 block of South Easton Road, they said Sunday.

Roy A. Smith, 50, of no fixed abode, was arrested on a warrant out of Camdem County, NJ, Doylestown Township Police Chief Stephen White said.

Police stopped Smith on Wednesday, Nov. 23, around 7:40 a.m. When they checked his identification, they found he was wanted by the Camden County prosecutors office for failure to appear on a burglary charge.

Smith had been living in the Doylestown Township area for about 30 days, police said their investigation discovered.
 
He was arrested as a fugitive from justice and arraigned before District Judge Maggie Snow. Bail was set at $100,000 or 10%.  He was committed to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
