More Charges Filed Against Doylestown Man

Ryan Wiley, 23, of Doylestown and Phillip A. Prokop, 38, of North Wales face charges in connection with jewelry store robberies in Doylestown, Horsham, and Newtown.

Newtown Township police are the latest to charge two men they believe are responsible for a string of area jewelry store robberies stretching from Doylestown to Horsham.

Ryan Wiley, 23, of Doylestown and Phillip A. Prokop, 38, of North Wales have been charged with 30 felonies involving multiple charges of burglary, criminal trespassing and receiving stolen property.

The latest charges are related to jewelry store thefts in September and October at Bernie Robbins Jewelers and Mayfair Jewelers, according to a report published on phillyburbs.com.

In Ocotober, Wiley and Prokop were arrested by Horsham Township police for an Oct. 17 burglary at Jems, Jewels and Gold in Horsham Township.

According to the phillyburbs article, the men are believed to have been involved in three burglaries in Newtown Township – on Sept. 12, Sept. 18 and Oct. 11. The first and last burglaries occurred at Bernie Robbins Jewelers. On Sept. 18, the robbers allegedly targeted Mayfair Jewelers.

In October, the two men were charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy stemming from an Oct. 17  at the English Village Shopping Center in Horsham.

Horsham Police said Wiley and Prokop were identified as suspects after they attempted to sell "large quantities of jewelry" to a local pawn shop.

After Horsham filed its charges, Doylestown Borough detectives were able to link the two men to jewelry store robberies in town. They included two attempted break-ins at Carroll's Jewelers.

"A detective went down and was able to link them to our robberies," Doylestown Borough Police Chief Jim Donnelly said Wednesday.
