Man Shocked Near Train Tracks

A man was shocked at the Doylestown SEPTA station late Friday night when he reportedly was standing on a train and came in contact with overhead wires.

 

An unidentified man was injured Friday night after he reportedly stood on top of a train and then came into contact with overhead wires.

Emergency responders were called to the train tracks in Doylestown late Friday night for a report of an electrocution. The emergency alert went out just before 10 p.m., noting that responding police officers had found the man down on the train tracks.

Emergency medical technicians and firefighters were called to the scene near , and a PennStar helicopter was put on standby.

Fox29 reported on Twitter that all SEPTA regional lines had been shut down "due to the electrical shock of a 20 y/o male standing on top of a SEPTA train."

Citing investigators, NBC 10 said the man had been standing on top of the train when he came into contact with overhead wires. It is not yet clear why he was on the train.

Passers by reported seeing a "flash" near the train tracks all the way from Main Street and thought it was fireworks.

Witnesses who were at The Freight House told Matt Coughlin, of The Intelligencer, that they saw the man fall from the top of the train; his clothing was on fire, they said. Click here to read Coughlin's report.

No further word was available on the man's condition late Friday.
