Local Woman Dies in Crash

The 87-year-old woman went into cardiac arrest at the scene and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A New Britain Township woman died in a car crash Monday afternoon at Route 309 and Richardson Road in Montgomery Township.

Anne Coffey, 87, of Edinboro Circle was behind the wheel of a white 1996 Ford Taurus and collided with a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck, William Miller, 39, of East Old State Road in Sellersville, was uninjured, police said.

Coffey was pulling out of the Heritage Executive Campus at 595 Bethlehem Pike when she hit the pickup truck, which was northbound on Route 309, police said.

A PennSTAR MedEvac helicopter was placed on standby, but stood down as Coffey went into cardiac arrest on the scene, according to a source familiar with the crash.

Coffey was transported by a ambulance to Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police temporarily closed Route 309 to all traffic between Richardson Road and Line Street.
