Jeep Stolen Off Lot

A man reportedly stole a Jeep Cherokee that was for sale after saying he wanted to inspect it.

Police say a man who said he wanted to check out a car for sale stole it instead.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee was posted for sale at the Trans Shop, according to Doylestown Borough Police.

A receptionist told police that a man approached her, asking about the vehicle. She gave him the keys to inspect it.

The man was observed looking at the exterior of the vehicle, according to the police report. He then allegedly entered the vehicle and drove off at a high rate of speed, traveling south on South Main Street.

The incident happened on Monday, January 14 at about 2 p.m., police said.

The man is described as 20 to 30 years of age, with close-cropped red hair; he was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

The Jeep is valued at about $4,200.
