House on Clinton Street Burglarized

Police are investigating yet another break-in in the Doylestown area.

Doylestown Borough police are investigating yet another incident where a thief or thieves have broken into a home and stolen cash or jewlery.

The latest incident happened Wednesday, Feb. 22, sometime between 11:50 a.m. and 4:50 p.m., police said Thursday. A residence on the 200 block of North Clinton Street was hit.

Police said entry appears to have been made by forcing open a rear door.

Several pieces of jewelry and about $800 in cash was stolen from the residence, police said.

It is just the latest in a string of burglaries around Doylestown in recent months.

On Friday, Feb. 17, a home in the 2 digit block of Westaway Lane was broken into between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The home's rear door was broken down, police said, and the thief or thieves stole cash and various items of jewelry.

On Thursday, Jan. 26, a home in the 100 block of Pebble Woods Drive South was forcibly entered through a rear door, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:50 p.m. Various items of jewelry were stolen.

In January, , Robert Russel Masten, 26, in connection with several area burglaries.

Doylestown Borough police Chief Jim Donnelly and Township police Chief Stephen White said at the time that the thieves’ latest approach is to break in to a house during the day when people are likely to be at work or out running errands.

“They knock on the front door, and if no one answers, they go around back and break in,” Donnelly said then.

People are asked to be alert to strangers in their neighborhood during the day and to call the police immediately if they see anything suspicious.
