Fire Company Responds to Downtown Starbucks

Bystanders reported a smell of burning plastic emanating from the basement of the historic Fountain House.

Part of Main Street had to be closed to traffic for a time on Tuesday afternoon as Doylestown police and firefighters responded to an incident at the Fountain House.

The historic building on the corner of State and Main is home to offices and a . Bystanders reported a smoky smell emanating from the building.

"Whatever happened at Starbucks doesn't look serious, but there is a definite burnt rubber/plastic smell," Jeff Lugar said on Twitter. The Doylestown resident writes for Doylestown Patch.

Doylestown Borough Council member Marlene Pray reported later on Twitter that the borough's assistant fire marshal, Kelli Scarlett, confirmed that the heater in the basement was broken.

The fire company remained on scene as a precaution until the situation was resolved.
