Drug-Dealing Teens Sold Pound of Pot to Informant, Cops Say

Matthew Ciccone, 18, of Gatehouse Lane in Doylestown, and a 17-year-old male were arrested by Newtown Township police on Monday.

Two Doylestown teens were arrested after allegedly selling a pound and a half of marijuana to a police informant.

Matthew Ciccone, 18, of Gatehouse Lane, and a 17-year-old male were arrested by Newtown Township police on Monday after an investigation that began in May.

Ciccone and the juvenile have been charged with several counts of delivery of a controlled substance after selling the drug to a confidential informant on three separate occasions, police said.

Ciccone was arraigned and has been sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail. The 17-year-old was taken to a juvenile detention facility.

According to the arrest affidavit, Ciccone told police he transported large quantities of marijuana back from Philadelphia weekly to sell in Bucks County.

Newtown Township police said Ciccone sold the informant a quarter-pound of marijuana for $1,100 on May 22 after he was contacted by cell phone. Police monitored the transaction, which occurred near Central Bucks West High School, according to the arrest affidavit.

The informant then contacted Ciccone again a few days later and asked to purchase more marijuana, police said. Ciccone told the informant to contact the juvenile because he no longer sells less than a pound of marijuana, the arrest affidavit said.

The informant contacted the juvenile, who sold him a quarter-pound of marijuana on May 31 at his Doyelstown home, according to the arrest affidavit.  Police again monitored the transaction and collected the drugs as evidence.

Police said Ciccone contacted the informant on Monday, asking him if he wanted to buy a pound of what he described as “green crack,” the arrest affidavit said.

The informant agreed at the request of Newtown Township Police, who set up the purchase and provided the $4,000 needed for the transaction, police said. The transaction occurred at a Doylestown Township residence, police said. When Ciccone and the juvenile left the residence after selling the marijuana, officers stopped them and took them into custody, the affidavit said.

In addition to being charged with delivery of a controlled substance, the two were charged with dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity and criminal use of a communication facility. Ciccone was also charged with corruption of minors for the involvement of the juvenile.
