Police warn against leaving purses in plain view even in locked cars, after a thief smashed windows at a local fitness center parking lot.

Theft from Vehicle – Shattering Window at Fitness Center

On Wednesday between 10:30 am and 11:00 am, two vehicles at a fitness center in the 700 block of Edison Furlong Road had their side windows shattered in the parking lot of the club. 

Women’s purses and pocketbooks that had been in plain view were stolen.

In one, the thief took $80 in cash and a driver’s license, and from the other, $260 in cash and a driver’s license.

Police are warning people to hide purses and pocketbooks before arriving at a fitness center or other similar place.

In addition to the theft of the personal property, the victims now have to protect themselves from future identity theft crimes, which is an extremely tedious process, police said.

Driving Under Influence of Alcohol and related charge

On Feb. 11 at 10:25 pm, a vehicle was observed driving off of the traveled portion of the Route 202 Bypass onto the parkway construction site. The driver, Barbara Mehok, 44, Kintnersville, PA, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage about her. She failed to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests.

She was arrested and provided blood samples for testing. The above charges were filed before District Judge Mark Douple on Feb. 14.

Driving Under Influence of Alcohol and related charges

On Feb. 13 at 2:35 am, a vehicle was observed swerving on Route 611.

The driver, John Neumann, 46, Horsham, PA, had the odor of an alcoholic beverage about him and slurred speech. He failed to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests.

He was arrested and provided blood samples for testing. The above charges were filed before District Judge Mark Douple on Feb. 14.
