Doylestown Borough Police are investigating reports of burglary and thefts from vehicles this week.

Doylestown Borough Police are investigating a burglary and reports of theft this week.

A resident of the 300 block of Maple Avenue recently reported that someone entered an unlocked rear door and removed a MacBook Pro computer from the home.

Police Chief Jim Donnelly said the resident had fallen asleep on a couch in the living room and forgot to lock the door. Someone entered the home and stole the computer, but left without taking anything else, possibly because the thief heard or saw the resident in the other room, Donnelly said.

The incident happened on Friday, Jan. 11 sometime between midnight and 5 a.m.

The computer is valued at $1,199, according to police reports.

Police also are investigating recent thefts from vehicles.

Three pairs of sunglasses and a military-issue knife were reported stolen from the glove compartment of a vehicle, police said. The car was parked in the alley next to the J. Caroll Molloy Real Estate office sometime between 9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 and 3:25 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.

The missing items are valued at approximately $290, according to police.

In a second incident, two pairs of sunglasses, a pair of pajamas, and about $5 cash were stolen from an unlocked vehicle, which also was parked in the lot behind the Molloy office that same night. Police reports indicate the theft occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 and 2:52 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.

Those missing items are valued at about $45.
