Doylestown Man Facing Homicide by Vehicle Charges in Deadly Crash

Carl "C.J." Polichetti III, 47, died in a car accident Saturday night on Kellers Church Road in Bedminster Township.

A Doylestown man has been charged in connection with a fatal accident Saturday after police say he was driving drunk and killed a man on his motorcycle.

Dennis Bennett, 64, of Old Pebble Hill Road has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence. According to court documents, Bennett was driving at more than twice the legal limit when he hit Carl “C.J.” Polichetti III, 47, on Kellers Church Road in Bedminster Saturday night.

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m., The Intelligencer reported. The publication reported that Polichetti’s wife was riding on the motorcycle and suffered life-threatening injuries.

A Pennsylvania State Trooper told The Intelligencer that he smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Bennett, who also was stumbling and slurring his words. Court documents show he was charged with operating the vehicle at more than twice the legal limit; media reports indicate Bennett was as high as three times the legal limit.

Bennett was arraigned Sunday and sent to Bucks County Prison. He has since posted $10,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is Aug. 4.

WFMZ reported that Polichetti was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Lehigh County, where he later died.
