Borough Police Investigating Jewelry Theft

Someone stole jewelry worth more than $4,600 in one incident; in the second incident, the would-be thieves were unable to get into the building.

Doylestown Borough police are investigating two recent incidents involving jewelry theft.

In the first incident, a representative from Antiques in Doylestown reported that someone had removed numerous pieces of jewelry from a display case in the store.

It is unknown when the theft occurred, according to police reports released Thursday. The incident was reported on Thursday, Sept. 13 at about 12:44 p.m., the police said.

The missing items included several rings, a watch, and numerous gold charms. They are valued at more than $4,600, according to the police.

There were no signs of forced entry into the business.

In the second incident, it was the signs of attempted entry that alerted the business owners that something was wrong.

According to the police, someone tried to break into Carroll’s Jewelers on Thursday, Sept. 20 at about 4:47 a.m.

The rear door showed pry marks and damage to the locking mechanism, the police report said, but no entry was made into the building.
