Bear Caught in Woods Near Warrington Shopping Center

A black bear was tranquilized after it was spotted in the wooded area near the Valley Square Shopping Center in Warrington Thursday.

This story was reported by Warminster Patch Editor James Boyle.

Conservation officers from the Lower Bucks County office of the Pennsylvania Game Commission tranquilized a black bear sighted in the wooded area near the Valley Square Shopping Center in Warrington Thursday morning.

There has been no confirmations yet that this is the same bear spotted in Buckingham Wednesday. This is just the latest in a string of bear sightings in Bucks County.

The Warrington police department began getting calls around 8 a.m. from residents who saw the bear in the Palomino Woods area behind the shopping center, according to police Lieutenant Dan Friel. Officers surrounded the area and called in the wildlife conservation officers from the state Game Commission.

The officers used tranquilizer darts to subdue the animal and placed it into a steel, ventilated container. According to Lt. Friel, the bear will be released somewhere in the Poconos.

In May, several black bear sightings were reported in Lower Bucks County, including in Croydon, Hulmeville, Middletown and Bensalem.

Earlier this month, a black bear was spotted in Solebury Township, CBS Philly reported.
