New Britain 7-Elevens Robbed Overnight

The knife-point robber has struck again, this time at the two 7-Elevens along Rt. 202 in New Britain borough and township.

Police are investigating the overnight robberies of two 7-Eleven stores on Rt. 202 and believe them to be the work of the same man who has targeted other area gas stations in recent weeks.

The robberies occurred at the , at 490 E. Butler Ave. at the corner of Upper State Road, and in New Britain Township, at 303 W. Butler Ave., said Jim Donnelly, who is police chief in both Doylestown and New Britain boroughs.

They happened in the early morning hours of Thursday around 3:20 a.m. and 3:35 a.m., Donnelly said.

In both robberies, the man displayed a knife and demanded money from the cash register, Donnelly said.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie and a scarf or other cloth covering the lower part of his face.

Both the description and the timing and weapon displayed in these robberies are similar to other recent robberies, including the at Rt. 611 and Edison Furlong Road in Doylestown Township.

"It looks like it’s the same person behind all of these," Donnelly said Thursday.

Other similar robberies have occured in Bedminster and Hilltown townships, Quakertown borough and Hatfield Township in Montgomery County, police said.

Doylestown police detectives are assisting New Britain Township with the investigation into these robberies. Anyone with information is asked to call Doylestown police at 214-345-4143 or New Britain Township police at 215-822-1910.
