$2,000 Worth of Jewelry Stolen From Senior

The theft was reported last Sunday.

Jewelry valued at about $2,000 was reported stolen from a resident of one of Doylestown's senior living centers, Doylestown police said Thursday.

The police are investigating the theft, which happened on Sunday, Feb. 12, some time between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Police said a resident of Center Square Towers reported that someone removed a tote bag containing several pieces of jewelry from her residence during that time.

There was no sign of forced entry into the apartment in the building on Broad Street, police said.

Police also are investigating another incident of theft from a senior at a borough nursing home. This one involved cash.

Police said a resident of Greenleaf Nursing Home reported that someone removed about $270 from his locked nightstand on Friday, Feb. 3 some time between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Assault

Kenneth Kuriger, 45, Union Street, Doylestown, was arrested on Wednesday, February 15 at approximately 2:40 p.m. for allegedly engaging in a physical confrontation following a verbal dispute at his residence.

The victim reported that Kuriger threw her to the ground and attempted to strangle her.

Kuriger was arraigned before District Justice Benz and remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10% of $30,000 bail.

Criminal Mischief

A representative from Language of Hair reported that someone spray-painted graffiti on their business sign sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 and 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10.

Disorderly Conduct

Matthew Rumpf, 24, Almshouse Road, Doylestown, was cited on Saturday, Feb. 11 at about 2:23 a.m. after he was allegedly observed urinating in an alley off West State Street.

Weapons Violations

Charges have been filed against a 16-year old male student at Central Bucks High School West after he allegedly brought a pair of brass knuckles to school on Monday, Feb. 13.

Public Drunkenness

Charges have been filed against Kirk Oswald, 43, Edgewood Drive, Telford, for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at about 9 p.m. at a South Main Street bar.

Oswald allegedly became combative with an employee of the bar as she attempted to aid him following a fall that rendered him unconscious. Upon arrival of the ambulance, Oswald allegedly began fighting with paramedics and officers attempting to assist him.

Oswald was transported to Abington Hospital for evaluation.

Oswald is also charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Driving Under the Influence

Robert Tennett, 18, New Britain Road, Doylestown, was arrested on Thursday, Feb. 16, at about 2:01 a.m. after his vehicle was stopped for driving above the posted speed limit on South Main Street in the area of Ashland Street.

During the traffic stop, Tennett was noted to exhibit signs of intoxication. He was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed.

Tennett was transported to Doylestown Hospital for legal blood tests.
