Marie Ciliberto, 80, Lived in Doylestown for 70 Years

Marie Ciliberto passed away peacefully in her Doylestown home on Monday.

From Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home:

Marie “Mom-mom” Ciliberto passed away peacefully in her Doylestown home on Monday evening October 14 wrapped in her family’s love and under the care of Doylestown Hospital Hospice. 2013 had been a difficult year for her health, but we are grateful she was healthy and vibrant for her 80th birthday party with her family and friends in June.

Marie lived in Doylestown for just short of seventy years, moving to Pebble Hill with her parents, William and Marie Kummer and sister, Wilma, near the end of World War II. She was married to Bernard “Benny” Ciliberto in 1950 and together raised six children: Bernard (Cydney), Cathy Gonzalez (Louis), Carole, John (Jacquelyn), Lisa (Wes) and William.

She was adored and loved so by her eleven grandchildren, Sarah, Lucy, Luke, Ivan, Emily, Greg, Josh, Colin, Autumn, George and Mia. Marie was blessed to hold her four great-grandchildren, Luke, Max, Logan and Skylar. The children all seem to have inherited their Mom-mom’s loving, open smile.

Marie will be best remembered for her wonderful holiday family dinners and birthday parties, always with a surplus of food and desserts . . . she seldom went a week without finding a new recipe to try, but she revered the recipes and menus from her mother and grandmother.

A very talented seamstress and avid gardener, Marie’s devotion to the art of quilt making, crochet and pattern sewing produced many beloved heirlooms, including unique patchwork quilts for each of her grandchildren upon their high school graduation. The scent and sight of her night blooming cereus was a delight on her porch!

Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service 11 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church, 1401 Meetinghouse Road, Warminster. Interment will be held privately in Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be made to: Montgomery County SPCA, P.O. Box 222, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222 or to: Family Service Association of Bucks County, 4 Cornerstone Drive, Langhorne, PA 19047 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
