Jason Alan Chmel, 43, Always on the Move

Services for Jason Alan Chmel are Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Jason Alan Chmel, of Doylestown, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013, at his home, surrounded by those who loved him, after a 15 month battle with brain cancer. He was 43. 

He was the beloved husband of 8 years to Marissa Diaz Chmel and loving father of Emilio and Marcello.

Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Joyce Ruisi-Chmel of Greensburg, PA and the late Dr. Herman Chmel.

Jason worked for New Jersey Network (NJN) Public Television for over 15 years, most recently as their master controller, before it closed in 2011. He was always on the move and loved to travel to Europe, snowboard, play tennis and go off-roading. He was proud of his annual fireworks display his non-stop practical jokes and working with his hands as he was never without a project around the house. His precise skills and attention to detail will always be appreciated and cherished by his wife and sons as his finished projects surround them in their home.

Most of all Jason was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend whose spirit and passion for life will always be admired.

In addition to his loving wife, children and mother, Jason is also survived by his sister and brother in law Nicole and Ralph Brown, his aunts and uncles, Diane Giovagnoli and Elaine and David George and Roger Ruisi, his cousins Sherri, Elana and Max, his in-laws; Blanca Diaz, Domingo (Pete) Diaz Jr., Diane Diaz, Peter and Debi Diaz and their children Isabella and Antonio Diaz. He is also survived by his devoted childhood friend David Ferrone.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 12:30 pm until his Funeral Mass 2:30 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 5175 Cold Spring Creamery Rd., Doylestown, PA 18902. His interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his memory be made to the Jason Chmel Fund, PO Box 123, Mechanicsville, PA 18934-0123 or via the web at www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/jason-s-battle/71435.
