Tip 1: Asking a question on his Facebook page generates much more interest rather than just posting information. Use Twitter as your news feed, then share its content with customers.

Rick Toone, a video and messaging expert with piles of TV commercials to his credit, likens social media to a grocery store: you can go for a purchase or just wander around. He finds that “meeting” people on social media first has led to in-person relationships – and business.

Tip 2: What you include on Facebook and Twitter and other social media has to be personal as well as professional to set you apart.

Kristin Kane, who trains companies in using social media, says commonality is often missing in online relationships. She offers ways to bring you closer to your customers.

Tip 3: Segregate your Facebook friends so you can better manage who sees which information.

I can’t wait to hear what else they have to share to make my business better.
