There is strategy I learned a few years ago when I was trying to work through a lot of business prep, research and creative work. What I realized is I function best at certain times of the day. I was once a total night owl and that served me well when I was working the 11-7 shift and going right into school in the morning. Yeah, that’s pretty much how I got through nursing school and raising my oldest daughter on my own at that time. I survived it because it was what my body naturally did.

Spend some time during your daily routines to assess when you have

- the most energy
- the most focus
- the most distraction

By knowing these three things, you can easily designate work that requires more concentration and focus during your peak performance time.

For example:

Writing doesn’t always come easily to me, but I have found certain times of the day that the words literally can jump onto a page (as they are now). That being said, it took a few attempts at finding that sweet spot.

Once you track your energy levels, use this knowledge to schedule difficult tasks or those that require higher mental acuity during your “high” energy times.

Simple tasks can be achieved during slower energy times. Such things as emails and filing can fit the bill.

By utilizing your body’s natural energy peaks, productivity inevitably increases based upon the time you have.
