Design a More Creative Garden

The Feb. 22 lecture at DelVal will explore the creative inspiration for today's trendy gardens.

Landscape architect Eric Groft will discuss the creative process behind great landscape design at a Feb. 22 lecture on the campus of Delaware Valley College.

The Founders Lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. in Room 114 of the Mandell Science Building.

In his lecture, “The Artful Garden: Creative Inspiration for Landscape Design,” Groft will explore ways of using inspiration from any form of art and applying it to garden design.

He will talk about the “New American Garden” style, which offers year-round beauty, frees plants from forced and artificial forms and allows them to seek a natural course as they weave a tapestry across the entire garden plane.

Groft, who has worked at the Washington, D.C., firm of Oehme, van Sweden & Associates since 1986, is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He earned a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from The University of Virginia in 1984.  He also holds a bachelor’s degree in geography and environmental science from Shippensburg University.
