Tree Lighting, Santa's Arrival Set for Nov. 29

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting event is organized by the Doylestown Business and Community Alliance.

Doylestown's Christmas Tree lighting event will be held Friday, Nov. 29.

The festivities, organized by the Doylestown Business and Community Alliance, will begin at 6 p.m. with a view of Santa riding from Central Bucks High School West. He'll be riding in an old-fashioned fire truck, accompanied by the high school's marching band.

The high school's choir will sing holiday songs in the courtyard by Starbucks. When Santa arrives, he will help countdown to the tree lighting. The lights will begin glowing at 6:30 p.m. There will be free cookies and cider.

Children will have a chance to meet Santa at his house on Hamilton and State streets.

The house will be open from Nov. 29 until Christmas Eve. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. On Saturdays, it's open from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m and on Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m.

The free DART bus will be operating from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. the night of the tree lighting. It will shuttle people between the free County Parking Garage on Broad and Union streets and the intersection of Main and Court streets.
