Phillie Phanatic Surprises Local Seniors

The Phanatic entertained Golden Living Center residents with his trademark antics while they enjoyed water ice and soft pretzels.

The Phillie Phanatic recently paid a surprise visit to a group of local seniors.

Residents of the Golden Living Center in Doylestown met the baseball team’s mascot on Aug. 20, thanks to Twilight Wish Foundation.

Twilight Wish Foundation is a national nonprofit charitable organization whose mission is to honor and enrich the lives of deserving elders through wish granting celebrations that connect generations. At Home Certified Senior Healthcare funded the wish.

The Phanatic entertained the residents with his trademark antics while they enjoyed water ice and soft pretzels, according to Twilight Wish Foundation representatives.

“Special thanks to At Home Certified Senior Healthcare of Doylestown for their generous donation, which made this wish granting possible. Thanks also to Rita’s Water ice for donating water ice and to Giant of Doylestown for donating a cake for the residents. Finally, thanks to the Phillies for donating souvenirs for the residents,” a press release from Twilight Wish Foundation said.

Since it was founded in 2003, Twilight Wish has granted more than 1,900 individual wishes to seniors throughout the U.S. 

Twilight Wish grants wishes to seniors who are 68 and older or a permanent resident of a nursing home and earn less than 200 percent of the poverty level.  If you would like to nominate a deserving senior or get involved with Twilight Wish, visit the website at www.twilightwish.org or call 215-230-8777 ext. 104.
