Charity Dog Wash Raises $2K for Local Teen Battling Rare Disease

Hailey Bekos is battling Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis, a disease in which the immune system attacks the nervous system.

A charity wash at Holiday House Pet Resort has raised $2,000 for the Hope4Hails fund, which was established to help the family of Hailey Bekos.  The Doylestown teen is battling Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis, a disease in which the immune system attacks the nervous system.

Since February, the pet salon has offered their premium bath and the choice of an additional spa service at a discounted price with half of the proceeds benefitting Hope4Hails.

The money will be presented to the Bekos family this Saturday.

Hailey, a Lenape Middle School 8th grader, was diagnosed with the disease in July, according to the Hope for Hails website.

Hailey is now recovering at home, but was admitted to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in July. She was treated there for several months while her family stayed at the Ronald McDonald House, where Hailey once was a volunteer.
