Veg-E Systems Tour with Bucks County Foodshed Alliance

The Bucks
County Foodshed Alliance, the nonprofit grassroots organization that works to
build a resilient local food system through education and collaboration, has RESCHEDULED its tour of Veg-E Systems, central
Bucks County’s newest specialty producer, for Wednesday, February 26, at 6pm. The
event is free and open to BCFA members and friends.

Dennis
Riling, president, and Tim Sulzer, vice president, established Veg-E Systems as
a multifaceted business to grow fresh, healthy produce year-round in local communities;
provide training and development services for those working in hydroponic
agriculture; sell and service hydroponic growing systems for both home and
commercial use; and offer a range of agriculture and agribusiness consulting
services. You can find Veg-E Systems’ lettuces, greens and herbs at the
Doylestown Food Co-op and other area shops and restaurants.

The February
tour of Veg-E Systems’s Doylestown facility will show visitors the hydroponic
growing system and explain the research, training and consulting operations
behind the innovative vertical farming concept, including how they choose and
grow the non-genetically-engineered plants they raise without herbicides or
pesticides. Tour-goers will have an opportunity to sample and purchase from the
recent harvest, so please bring your wallet and shopping bag.

The
evening’s pot luck meal will run from 6:00 to 7:00pm, with the tour to follow.
Visitors are expected to bring a dish to share with others and their family’s
own eating equipment and beverages, and they are expected to carry out their
own trash. Chairs are limited at this site, so consider bringing folding chairs
for your party. Although the tour is free, donations to BCFA’s programs are
encouraged. This educational and entertaining event is appropriate for
school-aged children who are under an adult’s careful supervision.
