Merchants of Doylestown Fundraiser for HOPE FOR HAILEY

Hailey Bekos is a bright, vivacious 8th grade student at Lenape Middle School in Doylestown, PA (Bucks County), who was diagnosed in July 2013 with a rare and life altering disease, Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis. The disease is destroying her brain cells to the point that she cannot speak, walk, recognize those around her or control her body. To date less than 200 people in the United States have been diagnosed with this disease. Together, friends and family have compiled the information on this website to support Hailey and her family during their time of need. Please help us make a difference in their lives and in our community.

Ellen Mager of Booktenders’ Secret Garden has organized many of the Merchants of Doylestown to participate in a fundraiser bake sale in front of stores on E. State and E. Oakland to support the Bekos family on Friday August 9th from 5-8 & Saturday August 10th 10am - 6pm. This will be in front of Booktenders Secret Garden, Busy Bee Toys, Coach’s Restaurant (drinks!) Chapman Gallery, PR Talk of the Town, Raymers Homemade Candy, and Yours Truly Kate.

Special added program: BOOKTENDERS' SECRET GARDEN & BUSY BEE TOYS will be combining for a STORYTELLING EVENT FOLLOWED BY A CRAFT SESSION AT BUSY BEE TOYS AT 7PM THIS FRIDAY NIGHT, Aug. 9th!  A donation (per person) to our HOPE FOR HAILEY Campaign will be your entrance ticket.

Other stores, the Doylestown Bookshop, Life On The Leash, Monkey’s Uncle, Yours Truly Kate, and Zen Den will be giving a percentage of their Saturday sales to the fundraiser. Still others, Bambini, David Frame Shop, Donegal Jewelers, Impact Hair Salon, L. A.D & Co Haircutters of Distinction, Nuts Plus Sweets & Treats, Olive Oil, Etc., & Paper Unicorn have donated as well.

Please thank these merchants for this community effort to help a family in need by coming and strolling around town, visiting the shops and purchasing the treats made by volunteers and store owners. I'm also grateful to the students who are volunteering their time to help with the sale.
