Living in Poverty: an Experiential Approach

Please join us on Monday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. to welcome Tammy Schoonover, Director of Training, Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC). Tammy will speak about the different kinds of need that exist in Bucks County for low-income residents, and how BCOC attempts to meet those needs in constructive ways. BCOC runs an economic self-sufficiency program, a food and nutrition network, and an emergency prevention and stabilization program, all three structured to empower low-income families with the education, skills, and resources that will lead, ultimately, to self-sufficiency.

Tammy will recount individual successes and failures from the BCOC programs and outline the problems faced by our neighbors here in Bucks. (She’ll also give us a group exercise to see how good we are at creating a workable family budget from a typical below-average income!) Please join us at St. Mary’s Hall for this attempt to look beyond the center. For further information, contact:  Rosemary Ramil, (215) 340-0238.
