JOHNNY'S DANCE BAND ... Live In Concert

Advance Tickets $15 at Bucks Co. Playhouse Box Office, Phone 215-862-2121, or online... www.BCPTheater.org

The Legendary JOHNNY'S DANCE BAND will perform a rare Afternoon Concert at the Historic Bucks County Playhouse ~ recently restored and renovated with a state-of-the-art sound system.  The concert is part of the annual LAMBERTVILLE-NEW HOPE WINTER FESTIVAL ~ 9 days of activities & events for young & old.

JDB has been enjoying a wave of sold out performances since re-forming a year ago. The original Johnny’s Dance Band reigned supreme in the Philadelphia tri-state area, from the mid-to-late seventies. In their hey-day, they were quite simply the biggest local draw anywhere around the City of Brotherly love. They had 3 albums on Windsong (RCA) Records. What the band calls “Rock ‘n Roll Vaudeville” was always their strength: original music & satire, with a strong dose of good old-fashioned cabaret schtick.

There was a time, in New Hope, when John & Peter's booked JDB for several consecutive 3-day weekends - a phenomenon that has never since repeated. Nevertheless, for every show, people stood in line around the block, to experience this totally entertaining troop, again & again. The group’s following just couldn’t get enough.

Each song focuses on a different band member, and the repertoire reflects many musical styles: rock ‘n roll, blues, latin forms, folk, country, pop, jugband, jazz, ballads, R&B and more. A satirical attitude often prevails.

WXPN radio personality, and long-time supporter of the group, Gene Shay states, “Johnny’s Dance Band has always been enormously entertaining, all the while playing some outstanding songs, and in so many genres! The music and show are as unique and original as anything you’re ever likely to witness.” Gene Shay will be Master Of Ceremonies for the concert.
