Heritage Conservancy Open House

Heritage Conservancy, an accredited not-for-profit land conservation organization located in Doylestown, PA, recently announced its upcoming open house to be held on Wednesday, December 11th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Aldie Mansion in Doylestown, PA. Featuring guided tours, a book signing, and a never-before-seen exhibit of William Mercer artifacts, this event that focuses on celebrating Heritage Conservancy’s 25 years of living its mission in the mansion is open to the public.

With Aldie Mansion’s halls decked for the holidays, guests will enjoy this historic home as reminiscent of how William and Martha Mercer might have decorated it 75 years ago. Guided tours will shed light on the mansion’s significant past, including the time that the acclaimed Von Trapp family sang to the Mercer’s dinner guests!

Attendees of the open house will have the opportunity to purchase The Story of Aldie, a beautifully photographed coffee table book that chronicles the history of Aldie Mansion from its grand conception, its fall into disrepair, and its eventual restoration and adaptive reuse by Heritage Conservancy. The book was co-written by the Conservancy’s president, Jeffrey Marshall, and J.C Berger. Both authors will be available to sign purchased copies of the book. The Story of Aldie could not have been published without the generous support of the Pfundt Foundation.
Perhaps the largest draw of the open house, William Mercer’s concrete sculptures will be on display to the public for the very first time. Bucks County recognizes Henry Mercer, William’s brother, as its renowned sculptor, but the talent didn’t stop with Henry! William Mercer created much of the concrete architectural work seen throughout Aldie Mansion. His molds and sculptures evoke the fine artisan craftsmanship of yesteryear that is so rarely seen these days.

This event should not be missed! Admission is FREE to members or $5.00 for non-members. For more information, contact Tammy Schane at 215-345-7020 ext. 107 or visit HeritageConservancy.org.
