Doylestown Hair Salons Join Forces To Trim Hunger For Those In Need This Holiday Season Stylists’ Holiday Food Drive to help stock New Britain Baptist Food Larder

Six Doylestown hair salons have teamed up again this year for a food collection drive to benefit the New Britain Baptist Food Larder’s Holiday Food Drive.   Items are being collected by the following participating salons from November 6th until December 8th:  Brian Chapman Salon, located at 39 East Ashland Street; David Velasco Salon, located at 150 South Main Street; Details Hair Salon, located at 212 South Main Street; Elizabeth Benke & Associates Salon and Color Studio, located at 7 West Oakland Avenue; Impact Hair Design, located at 25 South Clinton Street; and Moxie Salon & Spa, located at 5 Taylor Avenue.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, supplies at the New Britain Baptist Food Larder have been very low and the need in the local community is greater than ever. The participating salons are asking for donations of non-perishable food items such as pancake mix, syrup, sugar, flour, soups, juices, coffee, tea, condiments, spaghetti sauce, pasta and canned fruit.  Also needed are toiletries and personal items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, and laundry detergent.

Dottie Rimmer, coordinator of New Britain Baptist Food Larder stated, “…We were overwhelmed with the amount of food brought to our larder by the Stylists’ Holiday Food Drive last year.  With so many people in our area without power and the basic necessities of life after the terrible storm, the Stylists’ Holiday Food Drive is more important than ever to help us support those in the community who rely on us.  Monetary donations would also be appreciated as last week we were without power and had to throw away more than 800 pounds of meat valued at $2,000.”
