Dublin Holiday Gathering Set for December 14

The Dublin Holiday Gathering will feature many fun family activities -- including the arrival of Santa, hot chocolate, Gingerbread display and contest, horse drawn carriage rides, and model trains.

Planned by Discover Dublin Inc., the borough’s community and business revitalization group, the annual Holiday Gathering is scheduled for Saturday, December 14 from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Dublin Fire House.

“It should be another memorable evening,” said Eugene Miller, event organizer. “Our volunteers have put a lot of work into making this a special event for children and adults alike.”

While Santa is expected to arrive at 6 p.m. to light the tree, the big mystery is how he will get there. There’s no telling how the Jolly Old Elf will make his appearance this year. It could be by helicopter and or it could be by a horse-drawn carriage. Either way, the elves will be there to accompany Santa and help him light the tree.

A new feature this year will see Dublin Agway sponsoring "train rides" from the event to and from  a special holiday display on their property next door. And back by popular demand is the  Gingerbread Display and Contest sponsored by Pearl S. Buck International.

  • Pictures with Santa, Rudolph and Frosty (bring your own camera)

  • Railroad Train Display (1 p.m. - 9 p.m.)

  • Fire engines carrying Santa’s elves, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will visit Dublin neighborhoods from 4:30 pm to 5 pm, and end up back at the firehouse in time for Santa’s arrival.

Visitors are encouraged to show their holiday spirit and bring a toy or non-perishable food item to help the less fortunate.  Donations will go to the Dublin Food Pantry.
