Winter Storm Could Bring Snow to Doylestown

A winter storm is expected to move in Wednesday morning.

A storm that has moved across the Midwest could bring more severe winter weather to Doylestown than first predicted.

Mixed snow and rain is expected to move in Wednesday morning and last throughout the day.

The storm could bring 3 to 5 inches of snow to Bucks County, the National Weather Service predicted Tuesday afternoon.

Winds could reach 20 to 30 miles an hour, with gusts of up to 50 miles an hour, though the strongest gusts likely will be along the New Jersey coast, the weather service said.

The mixture of rain and snow along with high winds could lead to power outages, the service said in a winter storm watch. Issued at 3:27 p.m., the watch is for Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, eastern Montgomery County and Lower Bucks County, including Doylestown.

The storm is expected to last throughout the day.

"Expect travel to get more difficult as the Wednesday evening commute proceeds," the weather service said.

Meanwhile, PECO said late Tuesday that it is ready for the late winter storm.

"PECO’s emergency response organization is on standby and is actively monitoring the weather and its potential impact to the PECO system. PECO crews and contractors are prepared to respond to any outages or other issues that may occur," the company said in a statement.
