State Roads Still Closed by Irene

A few state roads around Doylestown are on the list of those that remain impassable after the storm.

Several state roads in Bucks County and the other Philadelphia counties still are closed due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Monday night that flood cleanup work and downed trees and power lines have forced the roads to remain closed as work continues.

The following are the road closings in PennDOT Engineering District 6, which includes Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, as of 5 p.m. Monday:
 
Bucks County
Route 32 between Aquetong Rd. & Windy Bush Rd. in Solebury Twp. and New Hope Bor. Downed tree with wires and mud.

Route 263 between Street Rd. and Aquetong Rd. in Buckingham and Solebury twps.  Flood cleanup.

Route 32 between Letchworth Ave. and Afton Ave. in Yardley Bor.  Flood Cleanup.

Route 32 between Trenton Ave./Calhoun St. and Taylorsville Rd. in Lower Makefield and Upper Makefield twps.  Flood cleanup.

Route 32 between Laurel Rd. and Upper York Rd. in Solebury Twp.  Flood cleanup.

Route 232 between Twining Rd. and Swamp Rd. in Northampton and Wrightstown twps.  Flood cleanup.

Route 32 between Cafferty Rd. and Bridgeton Hill Rd. in Tinicum and Bridgeton twps.  Flood cleanup.

Tohickon Hill Rd./Stump Rd. between State Park Rd. and Danboro Point Pleasant Pk. in Plumstead Twp.  Downed tree with wires.

In addition, two state-owned bridges also remained closed in Bucks County as of Monday night.

The closure is temporary, PennDOT said, until inspectors can check the structures for storm damage.

The state bridges that remain closed in Bucks County are:

Route 32 (River Road) over a tributary of the Delaware River in Solebury Township; and
Route 32 (River Road) over Rabbits Run in Solebury Township.

PennDOT has reopened 36 bridges over the past two days in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties following inspections.
